Blended Learning: Transforming Classrooms with Technology

Blended Learning classrooms are starting to show up more and more in classroom.  You would still have the same face to face lecture as a part of the lesson but you are also adding more use of technology to the classrooms as well.  This is definitely an approach I hope to become more knowledgeable about considering many schools are finding it extremely helpful in growing their students.  Our job as teachers are to grow our students.  I hope to take some steps into this idea of blended learning through some of next school year with my students and see what kind of results I am able to receive.

Chromebooks in the Classroom (1:1)

More and more districts are implementing a 1:1 technology roll out in there schools.  I think that it is a great opportunity for the teachers as well as the students.  There is so many different resources that are able to be pulled into classrooms that were not available before.  One really big benefit that I have found with the use of Chromebooks in my classroom is it allows me to differentiate more often.  I have so many students that all vary in their ability levels and I use a number of math resource websites such as Moby Max and Front Row Math.  With Moby Max I am able to assign specific skills to each child based on their individual needs which I have found is really beneficial.  I will say without having the Chromebooks it would make it a much tougher to fill some of the holes that I am trying to fill.

Another great resource that I have found that my students really love is a site called Kahoot.  Vocabulary plays a really big role in my classroom but some students don't like the traditional way of studying and preparing for their vocabulary assessments.  With the implementation of the Kahoot website it allows for us to play a game with the words.  Teachers are able to do much more than vocabulary, I just have found that it works best for me with vocabulary being a math teacher.

I hope to share more of the resources I have come across through this semester that I think could be helpful to others in our class.
